The application of aramid fabric in the field of safety protection

The application of aramid fabric in the field of safety protection

The flame retardant and high temperature resistance of personal protective equipment is an important condition to ensure the safety of personnel. With the development of material science and technology and textile processing technology, flame retardant protective clothing has gradually developed from temporary flame retardant finishing, semi-durable flame retardant finishing to durable flame retardant finishing and the application of intrinsic flame retardant materials.

1) Fire suit

Aramid is an inherently flame retardant fiber, and the processed fabric does not need to be treated, that is, it has a permanent and high-level flame retardant function. The emergence of aramid fiber has brought a revolutionary change to firefighting clothing. Fire suits are mainly worn by firefighters to put out fires and save lives. In a severe heat environment, it must be able to provide 30~120S time to ensure that the firefighters can leave safely after emergency rescue. Therefore, the outer layer of the fire suit must have sufficient thermal stability and thermomechanical strength to avoid melting or rupture. It is required to have a higher aramid content, generally the content of para-aramid is more than 25%.

2) Fire and heat resistant work clothes

Aramid has excellent heat resistance and good dimensional stability at high temperature, which is very important for protective clothing, because general textile fibers, especially synthetic fibers, will shrink and melt to a large extent at high temperatures. The protective clothing made of this material has a large dimensional change after preheating, which will seriously affect its protective performance. For example, the TPP value (thermal protective performance) of the double-layer combined thermal protective clothing with the outer layer of 293g/m2 of aramid fabric and the inner layer of 177g/m2 of flame-retardant cotton is 2.19, and the protection time is 11.8S; The TPP value of the double-layer combined thermal protective clothing with the outer layer of 361 g/m2 flame-retardant polyester cotton and the inner layer of 127 g/m2 of flame-retardant cotton is only 1.67, and the protection time is only 6.7S.

Industrial protective clothing using aramid 1313 has been used to a certain extent in petrochemical, general chemical, electric power and coal industries, partially replacing protective clothing made of flame retardant cotton and chemical fibers, fully demonstrating its excellent resistance. flammability, thermal insulation, anti-knock performance and durability. It can also be processed into fire-resistant textiles necessary for public places such as homes and nursing homes, hospitals, hotels, hotels, karaoke halls, and cinemas.

3) Anti-arc clothing

Arc hazard is a common severe discharge phenomenon in industrial production, especially in places involving high-voltage electrical equipment.

It is stipulated in the relevant standards in my country that people who may face arc energy of not less than 25.74J/cm2 after arc hazard analysis, or those who enter areas that may have arc hazards should be equipped with arc protective equipment, including arc protective clothing, arc protective hood, Arc protective gloves and arc protective shoe covers, etc.

Aramid fiber is used for the protection of arc hazards, and has unique advantages, because the fiber begins to thermally crack at above 400 ℃ and forms a carbonized film barrier layer with a certain strength, which can prevent the heat flow from penetrating into the interior of the garment, so it can play an effective role. protective effect. Practice has proved that the use of aramid fibers to make arc protection products can provide satisfactory protection against arc hazards on the job site.

4) Protective gloves and other supplies

Because people have to do some very dangerous work, they sometimes encounter cuts, scrapes, burns, etc., so supplies such as protective gloves are needed.

Using aramid fiber to meet high-strength polyethylene, stainless steel wire and other materials, develop and produce anti-cut, anti-puncture, anti-tear and other anti-mechanical damage textiles, which can be made into gloves, work skirts, sleeves, shin guards, etc., which can reduce or even avoid personnel are injured. The above products are mainly used in construction, forestry, metal processing, tree trimming and other industries. For example, 400g/double para-aramid cut-resistant gloves have much better cut resistance than 800g/pairs of polyester/cotton gloves. In the past, chain saw operation protective clothing was made of nylon, but now it is made of para-aramid fabric and felt. 6 layers of composite can achieve the protective effect of 12 layers of nylon material, and it has the advantages of light weight, comfortable and flexible wearing, etc.
